Mafia boss Charles 'Lucky' Luciano with society photographer Slim Aarons while Luciano was in exile in Sicily, Italy, 31 December 1948. Time magazine named Luciano among the top 20 most influential builders and titans of the 20th century. Lucky Luciano, the Five Families and the National Crime Syndicate With Maranzano dead, Luciano became the top leader in the New York Mafia. He was 71. Luciano is a major character in the first four seasons before becoming the main antagonist of season five.
